In search of pure honey

Members of Rukrakaganno and staff of Deutsche Bank participated on a visit to Dankombuwa in Dehiowita on Saturday 23rd March 2024 to witness the first impressive harvest of pure bee’s honey.

The project which commenced in September 2023 directed by Life Member of Rukraks Rohan Jayasinghe was a resounding success with a focus on women empowerment to bring the much-needed economic benefits to the Dankombuwa community. Ten bee boxes were established as a pilot project and the women trained in handling and caring for the bee colonies.

After tasting the delicious bee combs oozing with pure honey from the blooms of Mango, Avocado and Rubber trees of the micro environment the days agenda culminated in watching the extraction of honey at the community hall. Words of welcome and appreciation were exchanged and the participants were presented of jars of pure bee’s honey.
